The ACT Department of Treasury provides strategic financial and economic advice and services to the Territory Government with the aim of improving the Territory’s financial position and economic management. It plays a leading role in promoting accountability and transparency in the delivery of services to the community and the management of resources. This is achieved through sound financial policies, best management practices, robust analysis and effective input into major change initiatives across the ACT Public Service.
Our graduate program
The ACT Government Economics and Finance Graduate Program is a specialised training program designed to provide opportunities to graduates who will have completed qualifications in Economics, Law, Public Policy, Commerce, Accounting, and related disciplines by January 2009. The 12-month program will enable you to develop and enhance your skills in economic and financial analysis and public policy or related disciplines.
About you
We seek graduates who are not only highly skilled, but who can also demonstrate leadership in a challenging and dynamic environment. Our graduates take leading roles in the delivery of major projects and services within the ACT. Many participate in national level policy development and liaise extensively with public and private sector stakeholders.
Successful applicants will demonstrate:
- Good academic results in economics, law, public policy, commerce, accounting or related disciplines
- Effective written & oral communication skills
- Ability to plan, organise and prioritise work
- Good people skills and a commitment to teamwork and ethical conduct
- Strong research and analytical skills, including the ability to make sound judgments
- Leadership ability and initiative.
