1. NO RESEARCH: Application indicates a lack of understanding about the organisation, which shows research has not been undertaken.

2. GENERIC COVER LETTER: Cover letter and application have not been customised for the particular organisation or job, giving the impression of being sent off generically, on mass.

3. TYPOS: Typographical or spelling errors in resume or cover letter.

4. WHAT SKILLS? Failure to clearly articulate and demonstrate skills and knowledge areas.

5. DOG'S BREAKFAST: Unclear structure, too much information and poor presentation of key information.
