Australian Institute of Health and Welfare

The AIHW is Australia’s national agency for health and welfare statistics and information. A Canberra-based statutory authority established in 1987, we employ around 200 staff and provide a wide array of products and services, including over 120 reports each year. Our work informs community discussion and decision-making. It includes collecting and analysing data about health, housing and community services, and about the health and welfare of Australians. We play a key role in developing national statistical standards and classifications. We work closely with Australian Government, State and Territory health, housing and community services departments, and with peak non-government organisations.

Our culture & values

Our highly skilled employees come from a variety of disciplinary and cultural backgrounds. Our working environment is stimulating and built on trust, continuous learning, commitment to excellent performance and respect for difference. We recognise individual and team efforts.
